Have you ever wanted to know about the best Sci-fi movie? Then you’ve found it. The Old Guard II is a Sci-fi, fantasy, and action movie written by Greg Rucka (also a director) and Sarah L. Walker, directed by Victoria Mahoney. It was released on July 2nd 2025 after the first part and all the love it gained in 2020. The Old Guard portrays a lot of character development. In The Old Guard II it shows themes of how important friendship is, taking risks, and the importance of being honest.

The first theme is the importance of friendship. The immortals grow their friend group and know that they can’t always trust people because they’ve gone through betrayal from someone they thought was one of their own (Booker).
The second theme is taking risks. As we know Booker (Matthias Schoenaerts) betrayed them in the first movie but in the second one he protects their whereabouts from Quhyn (Veronica Ngo) even though he knows where they are he even gives his immortality to Andy (Charlize Theron). by getting stabbed from the most recent immortal Nile as that’s how Andy lost hers he willingly gave it away so that she lives and he dies.
The last theme is honesty because Joe (Marwan Kenzari), an immortal, had lied to his husband Nicky (Luca Marinelli) who is also an immortal and has been secretly seeing Booker to give him food and help him which is surprising because it seems like he hated him after the betrayal and Nicky was really upset.
Overall I think The Old Guard II is a great movie. One scene I really like is the scene where Joe tells Nicky he’s afraid to lose him and Nick reassures him that if anything happens they will always be together. The movie has a lot of suspenseful parts; that’s why the songs are for the most part eerie. Another thing you forget is that actors are acting because it looks so real. Lastly, this movie is rated R but I think teens can handle this movie, don’t care if you think it’s for you. If you like movies like Maze Runner this is for you.
