On May 18, 2026 AMS hosted Pamela West as Principal for a Day. Ms. West is the U.S. Affordable Housing lead at Nuvee Real Estate. Has Ms. West come to the school, entered some AP class and Algebra from 10:45 to 11:45 and then had a meeting with some students.
Ms. West spoke about her struggles and achievements that lead her to becoming one of the leads at Nuvee Real Estate, and shared what skills are valued in that industry.

One skill that Ms. West said it is important in the housing industry to work in groups. “Real estate is all about networking. You’ve got to be social, you’ve got to talk to people. People have to like you.I really enjoyed the classes that I sat in today. So I sat in a couple of algebra classes. And I thought the way that you all are working in groups, the way that you’re thinking through problems, not just— we were talking about this earlier— not just like, what is the problem, but how do I solve, how do I think about solving the problem, and what do I do next? What you all are learning here is really important because I can tell you some of the people that you know, I’m hiring today don’t have those skills, right?”
Before she entered the real estate industry, she was actually a teacher. “I was teaching language arts in North Carolina, and I moved to Georgia over the summer, but I needed to work over the summer. So I got this job working at a real estate company writing their marketing materials,”
she said. But a summer job turned into a calling when she became “curious about the numbers.” She started posing questions to a financial analyst that worked at the company and decided to pursue a Master’s degree in finance and real estate.
AI is also affecting Ms Peamela West at Nuvee Real Estate
“we just started using AI and we can’t even openly use AI, meaning there’s only one type of software that they’ve developed for our company that we can use. So I can only use one thing, so I would never fully use it to do my work.but you still need that critical thinking, you all are learning that critical thinking, and that will never replace a human through AI.”
