Dexter Resurrection is a show that takes place in NYC, with its original series being in Miami, this is a new chapter for Dexter Morgan. The show is about Dexter Morgan waking up after a 10 week coma after being shot by his son in the cold, with being now renewed & recharged he finally has a second shot at life and making it all worth it for his dark urges. But little does he know, his past life is now creeping up on him and there will be consequences for the actions he’s caused and done.
What I like about this show is that it takes modern day and past into a mix and makes something great. Dexter Morgan is old-school. Most of his killer work was in the 2000’s and now he’s in the 2020’s adapting to the new generation where everything seems a bit easier. This show brings characters from the original series like Angel Batista, Vince Masuka & Joseph Quinn to make new storylines and if you’re into “fan service” then this is definitely your show.
The theme that I definitely take out in this series is to understand and accept who you are. At the end of the first season, one of the inner monologues we hear is Dexter finally accepting who he is. My favorite episodes that lead up to this conclusion are episode 4 (Call Me Red) , episode 9 (Touched by an Angel) and episode 10, the final episode (And Justice For All).
If you like shows like Death Note, Barry, Hannibal and of course the original Dexter series then this is your show.
