It’s fall and it is about that time for the Bathgate Basketball season to get started. For the past couple years I’ve been in school these tryouts have always been hosted by Mr.L and Mr.Gonzalez in the gym which is only for high school varsity. The tryouts become more packed year by year.
Well with this new group of young guys and no seniors at all, the coaches have the great mindset of being able to finish off with a successful season. A big key to making that happen is working hard and with these new young pieces they will keep developing over the years they have left in this program.
“We picked up eight and three of them became managers,” said Coach Gonzalez. He added that having some managers can improve their vision on the game and take their notes for when it’s their time to come up so they are all ready. Not only that, but picking up eight players for the coaches was a great decision because they also look bright into their future, seeing a lot of potential in these young guys.
“We want to build a relationship with the baseball and cheerleading team,” said Coach Gonzalez. Well he clearly thinks that all sports having that big connection will bring so much extra support for basketball, which can be pretty helpful. Not only that, but when the other sports teams seasons come around they are also able to build the same type of connection and give each other the same type of support which is great for every sport in the Bathgate campus.
“The other guys just have to keep working hard,” said Coach Gonzalez. He is leaving a big comment on the returning guys coming back for 2025. The veteran players have a big role being a part of this team. To keep their hopes up, they have to keep working, but it’s also important to have fun and do what they need to do on the court. Mentoring the rookies that come on to the team is just great leadership.
“Just need all the support that we can get,” said Coach Gonzalez.
