It is fall and thanksgiving break is coming up. Every year at AMS there is a trouncing of freshmen football game which is played by staff vs freshmen. This year the trouncing took place in Crotona park and included sophomores in addition to freshmen.
As we were all in Crotona, all of the high school students and staff were just vibing and watching the freshmen warm up, hoping that they could finish the job and end their long losing streak. Ms. Fofana said, “I think we’re gonna win because we have good chemistry and we have been practicing.” Her teammate Mr. Shultz said “The freshmen, the sophomores, they’ll just argue and they get confused which turns into more frustration.” It looked like the staff was ready to use that to their advantage.
As it is the 16th annual Trouncing the freshmen came up short and took a loss, losing 0-2. As we can see the freshmen were not able to find any type of way of scoring or to lock up the staff. But no matter who wins this is just all for fun and it is just a big tradition every year at AMS.
Some say the MVP of the game was Mr.Gonzalez, with two passing touchdowns and two interceptions. It looks like he was looking forward to this game a lot with playing on both sides of the ball and being able to put up some numbers. As I talked to him about it in an interview, those were the best stats out of all the staff.
“I was passing the ball to short, missed coverages and could’ve had a 4-0 score but I’m glad we got the win and we’re 16-0 and we will never lose,” said Gonzalez.
