During Spring break, Juniors had the privilege of attending AMS’s third Annual College Tour. This year we traveled to the Boston area, one of the country’s most well known college towns. We had the opportunity to see six beautiful campuses (and even got some U.S. History) in two jam-packed days. Overall, the trip was a huge success and a great experience for us juniors. The trip was chaperoned by Ms. Emmanuel, Ms. Mobley, Mr. Rosado, Mr. Oppong, Mr. Mayfield, Mr. Latortue, and Ms.Taveras. Ms. Taveras and Mr. Tyree Alexander were especially instrumental in making this trip happen, from planning to execution. We were able to attend Harvard University, MIT, Bentley University, Northeastern University, and Boston University.

Mr. Mayfield, a dean at AMS expressed, “It was a good experience, it was good to see a diverse group learn about both college and dorm life. I would definitely chaperone again if I was given the chance.”
Razak Rashid, a junior at AMS stated, ”Each college had its own unique architectural style for the buildings. For example, MIT had a weird shaped building. On the other hand, Harvard consisted of old brick buildings.”
Cloey Quezada, a junior at AMS stated, “All the campuses felt welcoming rather than intimidating because the tour guides were open to answering any questions.”
Mr. Latortue, a teacher at AMS expressed “This trip was very exciting to chaperone. The junior class is a pretty fun class to chaperone. While visiting the campuses they were very thoughtful and respectful.”
Overall, this trip was eye opening and it allowed us students to get an idea of what college life consists of. As juniors, this was very beneficial considering that next fall that will be us and we’ll need help deciding our future. As upcoming seniors, we hope that this AMS tradition continues.
